Introducing Samia, an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plans) Coordinator working for Surrey County Council, through Connect2Surrey.

A big part of Samia’s job currently involves picking up all the backlogged annual reviews for young people and updating the plans so they’re in line with 2024 standards.

One of the biggest elements that Samia enjoys about being an EHCP Coordinator is going through the admin paperwork. Through doing this, she gets to see how each of the children have developed and how their interests have changed.

Samia’s journey to becoming an EHCP Coordinator has been childcare-led as she started off as a Nanny, taking care of children and babies. From this, she worked with playgroups and then progressed into being a 1-1 Teaching Assistant which she really enjoyed. This role led her into teaching and specially supporting SEN children as a Nurture Group Leader.

Samia has also worked 1-1 with children who have been permanently excluded from school, giving them the support they needed. Now, Samia is writing Education, Health and Care plans for the children that she’s been working with to further their support and ensure the proper plans are in place as they grow.

Samia has been supported as an EHCP Coordinator by Connect2Surrey and she said "My favourite thing about working with Connect2Surrey is the recruiters, my recruiter is amazing, he always checks up on me and there’s nothing he hasn’t been able to sort about for me”.
